Hello. My name is Gianfranco and this is my personal website.
The purpose of this website is yet to be found, so for now please accept the randomness of the contents.
Sometimes I will publish quotes from books I read or that I find over the internet.
For example, I am not sure why
but, when i created this page, this came to my mind:
"Nimzowitsch wrote about Rubinstein that what amazed him most about his games was the incredible length of the plans. [...] you see that Rubinstein's play in the opening, middlegame and endgame is connected. Everything is tied together in what looks like one long plan. You find a path in the beginning of the game and you follow it right the way to the end. [...] But what made Rubinstein the master is that he developed his pieces, defined a goal and used all the possibilities on the way to achieving it, be they tactics or improving the position of his pieces." (Positional Decision Making in Chess, Boris Gelfand)
I am just an average Chess player with no intention to become better than that, but, in general, I am
fascinated
about stories of chess strategies. I believe that Chess is an elegant channel of communication to explain
complex
thoughts, and a lot of parallelisms can be made starting from a Chess board; and that is why I have read a
couple
of books about it.
The beauty of thoughts is the possibility of thinking about the future, and so you can imagine scenarios,
alternatives, pathways, strategies. Many have told be that I am too oriented towards the future, giving too
little
attention to the present, but my reality is that my present is thinking about the future.
Writing
Here below I am starting to collect writings from over the
years. There is no particular order at the moment,
but
my promise is to reorganize everything soon.
For my non-Italian friends, I am sorry but most of the section below is not too much for you but who knows in
the
future.
